About The Clock Workshop

The Clock Workshop is located in the picturesque, rolling countryside of Shaftesbury, North Dorset. My clients come from a broad local area, encompassing the three counties of  Dorset, Wiltshire and Hampshire.

My work spectrum covers the simplest of repairs that may be handled in a short home visit, to the complete overhaul and restoration of a triple fusee musical Bracket Clock.

All ages of clock are welcome to receive my very best attention. The oldest clock to come in to me being an English Lantern Clock 1654c, made by the renowned London maker Thomas Knifton. The youngest; a modern-day Quartz battery wall clock.

Repairs and sympathetic restorations to both movements and cases are undertaken. From items of investment to the most sentimentally precious heirlooms using contemporary materials, period techniques and best practise at all times. Every task from the straight forward and mundane, to the most complex and intricate are undertaken with the utmost of care, and attention to detail.

Clocks are collected from, and delivered back to your home by appointment, where after repairs, they are set up again in your chosen location. While in my care, all clocks are fully insured against loss or damage and every care is taken during all phases of restoration. All work is guaranteed, except for a possible old mainspring failure, which if not a ‘new’ replacement item, can break unexpectantly at any time.

On a personal level, much of the reward I find with clock restoration, is seeing my clients' satisfaction with my work when they are reunited with their precious timepieces.
